The Parade of Illusion in Chiclana de la Frontera already has its court. José Gómez Vela will be King Melchor; Antonio Aragón Aragón, known as 'Zurdete', will be Gaspar; and José Alba Heredia, 'Bolly', will play Baltasar. María José Galea Peña will be the Star of the East and Pedro Luis Meléndez Leal, the Royal Postman. The names were announced at an event in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall, presided over by the mayor, José María Román, together with the municipal delegate for Fiestas, Fede Díaz, and the president of the Asociación de Reyes Magos de Chiclana, Juan Jesús Sánchez. The role is not limited to the afternoon of 5 January. As Sánchez explained, a year of work now begins in support of the Christmas festivities and so that all children can have their gifts. The mayor noted that the Royal Court will have a very full agenda of events.

A campaign with fewer children to help

The Asociación de Reyes Magos was born linked to the 'Ningún Niño Sin Juguetes' campaign. Román detailed that a few years ago they came to help up to 1.500 children and that today they no longer reach 400, although the age range has been widened, which in his view reflects that the situation of families has improved. The mayor encouraged them to continue to help those who still need it. The protagonists spoke. Gómez recalled that the day they told him of his election was also the day a grandchild was born. Aragón showed his excitement at dressing his grandchildren as pages. Alba thanked his family and the association for the appointment and stated that he still does not know what it means to be a King, but that for children it has an extraordinary value. Meléndez committed to putting in all the hours needed to collect the letters, and Galea said she thought it was a joke and that since then she has not stopped smiling.

The association's dinner, on 28 November

The association will hold its gala dinner on Saturday, November 28, from 21.00 hours, at Bodegas Miguel Guerra. Tickets cost 45 euros and the proceeds will go to the 'Ningún Niño Sin Juguetes' campaign. They can be bought at Construcciones Carlos Viejo (956402410) and at Óptica La Vega (956401918).
