Erytheia Park will be the meeting point for the third Health and Wellbeing Promotion Fair on Friday, November 6. It will open from 10:00 to 14:00 and no ticket or registration is needed: you can just arrive and take part in the activities offered at any given time.
Most of the workshops revolve around what each person can do for their own health. There will be spaces to learn how to use medicines properly, to detect the sugar hidden in food, to take care of diet, rest, skin in the sun and eyesight. There will also be talks on mental health, emotional wellbeing, menopause, addiction prevention and mobile phone use.
Movement will have its place with musical gymnastics, postural exercises, mobility circuits, breathing and muscle function assessments. Added to this are proposals to put yourself in other people's shoes, such as the AGADI accessibility circuit and the activity "Envejecer 5 minutos", by the University of Cádiz.
Schools, the stars of the morning
One of the standout figures of this edition is the attendance of more than 800 schoolchildren, sixth-grade Primary students from the participating centres, who will have educational workshops on food, physical activity and self-care. Educational games, storytelling and a traffic education circuit by the Local Police have also been prepared for them.
On stage, the programme starts at 10:10 with the Health Club of the Municipal Sports Institute (IMD); at 10:45 there will be storytelling by the ALCA Association; at 11:20, a postural exercise workshop by the Parkinson association; at 11:55, another storytelling session by AGEBH, and at 12:30, a breathing session led by physiotherapists from the Bahía de Cádiz-La Janda Health District.
Throughout the day there will be stands from health associations and social organisations to provide guidance on the city's resources, a Purple Point coordinated by the Municipal Women's Foundation and an Aguas de Cádiz tent about water and the environment.
The Councillor for Health, Gloria Bazán, explained that the aim is for people to "be able to take part, ask questions, experiment and discover resources that help them improve their quality of life". The fair is part of the Local Health Action Plan and is organised by the Health Department of Cádiz City Council and the Bahía de Cádiz-La Janda Health District, with the collaboration of the Regional Education Department of the Junta de Andalucía.
