The airport of Jerez de la Frontera has received between January and September 2026 more than 24,400 British tourists, a figure that makes this year the second best of the last 15 in arrivals from the United Kingdom and the best since the pandemic. This is reflected in the official AENA data handled by the Patronato de Turismo of the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz. The rise is notable compared to previous years. In the same period of 2025, 10,462 Britons arrived and in 2024 there were 12,439. Since 2010, only 2019 surpassed the figures of this 2026 in the first nine months of the year. The increase in travellers is reflected in the rest of the tourism activity. In the first half of 2026, the historical maximum was reached both in tourists and in overnight stays of people from the United Kingdom, according to data broken down by the Plataforma de Inteligencia Turística (PIT).

Four connected cities

The growth is supported by the air connection that the British airline Jet2 maintains with the airport of Cádiz and that links the province with Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and London. The Patronato de Turismo and the company have reviewed this operation in a working meeting held at the World Travel Market (WTM), where they have also assessed the upcoming joint actions to give continuity to the evolution of this market. The fourth vice-president of the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz and provincial deputy for Tourism, Germán Beardo, has stated that this commitment to air connectivity "represents a key opportunity for the growth of the tourism sector in the province". Beardo has added that the WTM opens "a wide range of actions, agreements and joint strategies with companies in the sector to advance in the generation of economy and employment linked to tourism". The technical delegation of the Patronato de Turismo has also held more than a dozen meetings at the WTM to advance in promotion strategies, assess tourism and tour operation opportunities, and attract new benchmark events to the province of Cádiz.
