The third floor of the Casa de la Cultura shows from Friday, October 16 a total of 71 photographs of flora and fauna of the Campo de Gibraltar. The exhibition, corresponding to the IX Jornadas de Fotografía de Naturaleza del Campo de Gibraltar, can be visited until November 20. It is organized by the Asociación Medioambiental «Nuestras Raíces» de Los Barrios with the collaboration of the municipal Culture department. The display brings together images of birds, reptiles, insects and flowers from the natural surroundings of the region.

Meeting point for photographers

Antonio Benítez, representing the Los Barrios entity, has explained that the association's goal is «to spread knowledge of the region's biodiversity». He has clarified that the display is not a contest: all the prizes are drawn among the participants. In addition, it serves as a meeting point for nature photographers from the area. The Culture and Environment councillor, Raquel Ñeco, has pointed out that the exhibition attracts audiences, especially from schools, because it allows seeing in an indoor space the diversity of the natural surroundings of the region and of La Línea.

Nature classroom in the Parque Princesa Sofía

The mayor, Juan Franco, has announced that the Ayuntamiento is working on the future nature classroom of the Parque Princesa Sofía. According to him, the drafting of the project is being processed and a «more ambitious» space than the first outline is being opted for. The facility will be located in an area of 16 hectares of green space in the city centre, opposite Gibraltar. The opening of the display was attended by the mayor, Juan Franco; the Culture and Environment councillor, Raquel Ñeco; Antonio Benítez, representing the association, and the director of the hall, Macarena Alés.
