The last round of the 2026 Superbike World Championship was held this weekend at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto. According to calculations by Turismo y Deporte de Andalucía, the event leaves a tourist spend of 9.8 million euros in the area by visitors from outside the region. To that amount are added more than 3.8 million euros of destination spending linked to workers and to the organisation of the championship.

An event that moves the province

The Regional Minister for Tourism, Justice, Deregulation and Local Administration, Manuel Gavira, has stated that major sporting events act as a driver of economic activity, employment and tourist promotion. In his speech, he recalled that last year more than 300,000 people passed through the circuit in the different competitions it hosted. Gavira stressed that events like this «activate the whole province and create wealth, opportunities and future». He also called for «all institutions to go hand in hand» and for the Government of Spain to be involved alongside the Ayuntamiento de Jerez and the Junta de Andalucía.

Audience and promotion abroad

The Jerez round recorded an audience of 7.2 million viewers in 2025, according to Nielsen, and was broadcast on more than thirty channels in around a hundred countries across the five continents. The Andalucía brand is linked to the championship in this 2026, with promotion on the circuit's advertising media, digital actions and a presence on international television. The minister added that these events serve to make known the gastronomy, heritage, culture and the rest of the tourist offer of Jerez, the province of Cádiz and Andalucía. «We want tourism that generates opportunities, economic activity and employment», he concluded.
