The Municipal Museum of El Puerto de Santa María, known as the Hospitalito, opens its doors during the All Saints' long weekend. The building is at the junction of Ganado and Zarza streets.

Long weekend opening hours

The building can be visited from 11:00 to 14:00 on Saturday, October 31, Sunday, November 1, a national holiday, and Monday, November 2. The facility will remain closed on Tuesday 3. According to the deputy mayor for Historical Heritage, Enrique Iglesias, these days will allow both locals and visitors to discover the museum collections located on the first floor.

Four sections and a piece from the Castillo de Santa Catalina

The exhibition is divided into four thematic sections: palaeontology; prehistory; protohistory and the Roman era, with material remains that form part of the Municipal Museum's holdings found at various sites in the city. The room also hosts, during October and November, «La Pieza Bimensual»: an Egyptian-style baboon figurine (head) dated to the Iron Age and found at the Castillo de Santa Catalina, which forms part of the museum's holdings. The piece is set within the framework of the 1st millennium BC and the orientalising and Phoenician contacts at the western end of the Mediterranean.
