The Peña Flamenca de Chiclana fills November with singing, guitar and dance

Flamenco once again has its month in Chiclana. The Peña Flamenca Chiclanera has organised four performances for November at its venue on calle Luna, with which it commemorates one more year since the declaration of flamenco as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, approved by UNESCO on 16 November 2010. The programme starts on Saturday, November 7 at 22.00 hours with the dancer, choreographer and teacher David Romero, from Barcelona and based in Seville, who has worked with companies such as those of Lola Greco, Joaquín Cortés and Antonio Canales, as detailed by the organisation.

On Friday, November 13, also at ten at night, the cantaor and guitarist from La Mancha Ricardo Fernández Moral will perform. The following day, Saturday, November 14, it will be the turn of Lucía Beltrán on cante and Chaparro de Córdoba on guitar. On Saturday, November 21, at 22.00 hours, the evening will feature José Méndez from Jerez on cante and Julio Romero on guitar. The poster has sought to cover «everything that flamenco is, with cante, guitar and dance», as explained by Iván Sebastián, representative of the peña. The programme gives continuity to the activities that the organisation carries out during the rest of the year and is not aimed only at its members, but at the whole public. The municipal delegate for Culture, Susana Rivas, has stated that November is «the month of flamenco» and has placed the Chiclana peña as a reference for flamenco in the province and in the rest of Spain.
