Puerto Real opens the registration period for the Christmas nativity scene contest

Anyone who has set up a nativity scene in Puerto Real and wants to compete for a prize has from November 4 to 13 to register it. Registration is formalized at the Registro General del Ayuntamiento, at the Centro Administrativo Municipal, or by any of the legally established means. Associations, groups and individuals with the nativity scene installed in the municipality may take part. The jury will assess the lighting and special effects, the vegetation, the painting, the constructions and the harmony and finish of the whole. The contest distributes 2,390 euros among four categories: Family, Groups, Youth and Minors' Groups. In the Family category five prizes will be awarded, and in the other three several awards will be given according to the final ranking. There is also a non-competitive category for nativity scenes that, without competing for a prize, wish to appear in the Guía Oficial de Belenes.

The jury is made up of people with a background in nativity scenes and culture who are not connected to the participants. Visits to the nativity scenes will be made with prior notice, and the scores will be announced on December 11, the same day as the Pregón de la Navidad. Registered nativity scenes must be open to the public between December 11 and January 5, for a minimum of five days a week and two hours a day, so that anyone who wishes can visit them. The call is organized by the Ayuntamiento de Puerto Real with the Asociación de Belenistas «Ángel Carlier», as reported by the Consistorio, which encourages citizens, schools, associations and brotherhoods to take part.
