The Ayuntamiento de El Puerto de Santa María has begun removing from its beaches the infrastructure installed for the bathing season. The aim is to protect this equipment from the autumn and winter storms, according to the Servicio Municipal de Medio Ambiente, Movilidad y Playas.

What is removed and on which beaches

The work began in mid-October and this week focuses on the toilet and bathroom modules, starting with the beaches of La Puntilla and Fuentebravía. In the coming days they will continue with the removal of showers, footbaths, shade areas and information signage. Certain sections of the wooden walkways that give access to the beaches will also be dismantled, to prevent them from being damaged or swept away by the sea during the winter.

The services that remain

Not everything disappears. The Ayuntamiento will keep showers operating in Valdelagrana, La Puntilla, Las Redes, Fuentebravía and El Aculadero, intended above all for those who practise water sports, an activity that continues outside the summer. In Valdelagrana, two rest areas with wooden platforms will also be kept so that people with disabilities or reduced mobility can continue using the beach all year round.

How long the work lasts

The tasks of dismantling, removing and storing the equipment will foreseeably continue until the end of November. The removed infrastructure will be stored for maintenance and preparation for the next beach season. The municipal service is directed by the deputy mayor Jesús Garay.
