The Teatro Municipal Pedro Muñoz Seca in El Puerto de Santa María hosts two performances this weekend: on Friday, November 6, «Poeta perdido en Nueva York» is performed, by the Puerto-born actor and director Jesús Torres, and on Saturday, November 7 comes the flamenco premiere «Desde el origen», by the dancer Jaime Cala. Both events start at 20:00. «Poeta perdido en Nueva York» brings to the stage the figure of Federico García Lorca based on his poetry collection and the letters he sent to his family from the American city. The work mixes poems such as «El rey de Harlem» and «Ciudad sin sueño» with texts from «Diván del Tamarit» and «El público». The performance is created, directed and performed by Jesús Torres, who this year has received the MAX Award for this production, according to the Ayuntamiento. That same Friday, in the morning, a performance aimed at students from the city's secondary schools is held. In total, 500 students from 3rd and 4th of ESO and 1st and 2nd of Bachillerato from IES Pedro Muñoz Seca and from the schools Las Carmelitas, Las Esclavas and La Salle, among others, will attend free of charge. On Saturday, November 7, Jaime Cala presents «Desde el origen», a classic flamenco show with roots that pays tribute to the flamenco tradition of El Puerto. The dancer will be accompanied by the guitarist Juan Ramón Ortega and by José Peña on palmas and jaleo. As guest artists, the singers Aroa Cala and Nazaret Cala perform, together with the singers Selu Torres and Wilo del Puerto.

Tickets for the play can be purchased from 10 euros. For the flamenco show, tickets cost between 10 and 12 euros. The Pedro Muñoz Seca box office opens on Friday and Saturday from 18:00 to 20:00. Tickets can also be checked and purchased at the ticket sales website.
