The South International Series Festival will hold its fourth edition in Cádiz between October 30 and November 4. The event keeps the Teatro Falla and the Teatro Títere as venues and adds the Casa de Iberoamérica, which will host industry and press activities and will function as the festival's nerve center.
An Okuda San Miguel poster
The image for this edition is by the artist Okuda San Miguel, who presented the work in front of the façade of the Casa de Iberoamérica alongside the festival director, Carles Montiel, and representatives of the institutions backing the event. As the artist himself explained, the poster is built as «a symbolic universe where the eyes represent the viewer», with the water of Cádiz as its base and color as a code of diversity.
Honorary Award for Ronan Bennett
The festival will present its first International Honorary Award to the Irish screenwriter and novelist Ronan Bennett, who has lived in Cádiz for several years. Bennett is the creator of the series Top Boy and author of the adaptation of The Day of the Jackal, released in 2024. Montiel has stated that for the festival it is «a pride to recognize his career and to do so in Cádiz».
Cádiz Nexus, the industry space
The organization has presented Cádiz Nexus, the framework under which the event's industry activities will be grouped, with the aim of connecting talent, production companies, platforms, television networks and institutions. As a preview, it has announced the prominent presence of the Danish industry, which will come to present its content and explore possible collaborations.
Institutional backing
The president of the Diputación de Cádiz, Almudena Martínez del Junco, has defended the institution's backing of the festival for a fourth year and its impact on the local economy and on promoting the province as a filming destination. The mayor of Cádiz, Bruno García, has stated that the continuity of the event strengthens the city's international projection, and the delegate of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía in Cádiz, Mercedes Colombo, has valued its role for the Andalucía brand as a tourist and cultural destination.
