The VI Bienal Flamenca Canela de San Roque reaches its halfway point this Saturday, October 10, with the performance of the Granada-born singer Marina Heredia. The show, titled «¡En libertad! El camino de los gitanos», is performed at the Teatro Juan Luis Galiardo from 20:15.
The production is a fusion of cante jondo under the direction of maestro José Trigueros. According to the organisers, it is a musical and historical journey through the struggles, culture and path of the gypsy people since their arrival on the Iberian Peninsula six centuries ago. Marina Heredia presented this same show last September at the Bienal de Sevilla, accompanied by José Quevedo Bolita on guitar and Pakito González on percussion.
The Bienal continues on Sunday
The programme will continue on Sunday, October 11, at the Peña Flamenca San Roque, with a session at 17:00 featuring Angelita Montoya and Paco Iglesias, Juan Delgado and Antonio Carrión, Manuel Peralta and Antonio Malena, and Juan Canela and Niño de la Leo. Admission will be free until full capacity is reached.
Organisation
The festival is organised by the Delegación de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de San Roque, headed by deputy mayor Ana Ruiz.
