The beaches of El Puerto de Santa María are changing their appearance. The Municipal Service of Environment, Mobility and Beaches has begun removing the equipment installed for the summer, a task repeated every year when the bathing season ends and which serves to prevent the autumn and winter storms from damaging or sweeping away these elements.

Toilets first, then showers and walkways

This week the workers are focusing on the toilet and bathroom modules, and have started with La Puntilla and Fuentebravía. Next it will be the turn of the showers, foot showers, shaded areas and information signs. Some sections of the wooden walkways that give access to the sand will also be removed, so that the sea does not drag them away.

Services that remain all year

Not everything disappears. The City Council keeps showers in Valdelagrana, La Puntilla, Las Redes, Fuentebravía and El Aculadero, intended above all for those who practise water sports, who continue to use the beaches outside the summer. In Valdelagrana two rest areas with wooden platforms are also kept so that people with disabilities or reduced mobility can continue to enjoy the beach all year round.

Until the end of November

The work of dismantling, removing and storing the equipment is expected to last until the end of November. The infrastructures are stored to be checked and to have them ready for the next beach season. The area is directed by the deputy mayor Jesús Garay.
