'El cuplé': the game to sing with your chirigota, from the peña to the Gran Final del Falla

Topics Gran Teatro Falla

CádizYa launches a mobile game: choose the type, the theme and the punchline, and sing the cuplé to the beat of the bombo and the caja. From ilegales en la Viña to the Gran Final, with the audience laughing… or coughing. Free, no downloads and with a ranking.

You have the type, you have the theme and you have the punchline. Now only the hardest part is left: singing it in time and getting the audience to laugh. «El cuplé» is the new CádizYa game. It's played on your phone or computer, with nothing to download, and it aims at nothing more than having a bit of Carnival fun at any time of year. The verses belong to the game, they're made up, and they don't target anyone.

How to play

First you choose the type of your chirigota: sea urchins, pensioners or seagulls. Before each pass you choose the theme —the mother-in-law, the roadworks, the neighbours' meeting…— and how to land it: fine, with a whistle or in a big way.
Then, sing: tap the screen when each word of the verse reaches the circle, to the beat of the bass drum and snare. The beat is visible even if you have the sound off. On the whistles you hold your finger down until the end, and during the silence before the punchline you don't touch. If the punchline lands… laughter and applause.

From the peña to the Falla

  • The rehearsal at the peña.
  • From ilegales in la Viña, with the crowd singing along.
  • Plaza de Fragela, with the Falla on the outside.
  • Preliminaries, with an audience that gives nothing away.
  • And the Gran Final, with streamers and confetti.

The audience rules

The audience's warmth rises with the hits and falls with the misses: when it cools you hear coughs and someone unwrapping a sweet. If it freezes completely, or you miss too often in a row, «¡se os ha ido!». At the end you see your score and you can challenge someone by WhatsApp. If you log in to your CádizYa account, your games count in the game's ranking, with your alias, and add to the portal's overall ranking. You can also play without an account. The game is also in the Carnaval de CádizYa section.
