Plaza de la Constitución in Prado del Rey hosts this Saturday, October 17, the agri-food fair Saborea el campo, with around twenty stands of cheeses, sausages, honey, oil, wines and crafts, and live cooking by chefs from the Sierra de Cádiz.
La Plaza de la Constitución de Prado del Rey hosts this Saturday, October 17, the agri-food fair Saborea el campo, an event organised by the Asociación Agraria de Jóvenes Agricultores (ASAJA) de Cádiz under a collaboration agreement with the Diputación Provincial. Throughout the day, around twenty stands exhibit, sell and offer tastings of products from the region.
What you can find
The offer includes cheeses, cured meats, honey, oil, wines and artisanal products. The president of the Diputación, Almudena Martínez del Junco, has held up the honey producers of Prado del Rey, the town hosting the fair, as an example.
The event is completed with live cooking demonstrations by chefs from the Sierra. Taking part in this Saturday's session are Antonio Galindo, from La Divina del Rosalejo, a restaurant located in a country estate on the road between Villamartín and Prado del Rey; Miguel Ángel Fraidia and Eloy Jiménez, from Pub Andalucía de El Bosque; and the tourism promoter Pablo Brandón.
A format now in its third year
Saborea el campo has been held since 2024 in different parts of the province. According to the Diputación, the aim is to highlight the value of Cádiz's primary sector and attract tourism linked to gastronomy.
Martínez del Junco has argued that agricultural activity «keeps population in the territory» and has pointed to the collaboration between the Diputación, the Junta de Andalucía and ASAJA as key to carrying this fair forward. The mayor of Prado del Rey and provincial deputy, Vanesa Beltrán, has stated that the event is «a good opportunity to make our products known to the world» and an economic and tourism boost for the area.
The opening was also attended by the president of ASAJA Cádiz, José Pravia, and the territorial delegate for Agriculture of the Junta de Andalucía in Cádiz, Francisco Moreno, among other authorities.
