The Asociación Cultural ProReyes Magos Raíces held its official gala for its 25th anniversary this Saturday, October 24, at the Museos de la Atalaya, a gathering that brought together around 260 people, including institutional representatives, associations, brotherhoods, AMPAS, businesspeople and members of various groups from Jerez.

Three pillars of work

Since its origins, the organisation has maintained three main lines of action: rural Jerez, social and charitable action, and the defence of the culture, traditions and history of the Reyes Magos. Over these 25 years it has collaborated with the Pediatric Oncology area, alongside Proyecto por una Sonrisa, with the AFINES association, with the rural neighbourhoods, with schools and with numerous social associations. According to the association, every year it travels through the rural neighbourhoods of Jerez to bring gifts, sweets and company to their residents, with special attention to older people and children.

Institutional speeches

Members of the Corporación Municipal spoke at the gala. The first deputy mayor, Agustín Muñoz, noted the need for more associations committed to their surroundings and stated that «Jerez needs many organisations with roots». The deputy mayor and provincial councillor for Equality, Susana Sánchez Toro, addressed the section dedicated to the rural world, and the councillor for Inclusión Social, Dependencia, Mayores y Familia, Yéssica Quintero, the section on social and charitable activities. The president and founder of Raíces, Rafael López Gómez, reviewed the history of the organisation in his speech through experiences and memories, in an address that alternated humour and emotion.
